A tumultuous time personally and professionally for Ryan, this album explodes with existential crisis. Beautiful, loud and somehow darkly hopeful with Special Guests Johnette Napolitano (of Concrete Blonde), Dave Pirner (of Soul Asylum), Chris Feinstein, Tommy Williams, Will Kimbrough, Doug Lancio and Ethan Johns.

MATTHEW RYAN Vinyl Records and CDs When Matthew Ryan's debut was released in , comparisons to Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits and every singer-songwriter in between came fast and furious. And it's easy to hear why: Ryan's gritty vocals put him squarely in the shadow of those giants.

Mar 27,  · In the mid 90s, I had the pleasure of recording Matthew Ryan’s Debut album “Mayday” on A+M records. We recorded the record in NY, LA and Nashville using some of the finest recording gear available. We used 2 inch tape for the whole record, as most people did then.
